The Rise Up program at Hedland Senior High School and Newman Senior High School supports students to build leadership skills, set goals, and strengthen community connections.
As part of International Women’s Day, Hedland Senior High School students heard from guest speakers who shared authentic stories about discovering who they are, the career paths they pursued, and the challenges and resilience that shaped their journeys. Following the presentations students were able to ask questions about career choices, study pathways and personal growth; a valuable opportunity for students to engage directly with women from their own community working across diverse professions.
The presentations provided relatable insights into pathways beyond school and encouraged students to reflect on their aspirations, build confidence, and consider future opportunities. This opportunity also strengthened partnerships between the school and local community, highlighting the value of positive role models and mentorship.
