About Me: Welcome to Rise Up

Newman Senior High School’s Rise Up program supports student wellbeing and engagement. The new ‘About Me’ activity helps Year 7 students share their interests and build connections, giving staff insights to support their adjustment and success at school.

The Rise Up program at Newman Senior High School supports individual student achievement by encouraging participation in a broad range of activities, fostering positive reinforcement, and strengthening connections within the school community.

To welcome and engage new Year 7 students, the program has recently introduced an initiative that invites students to share information about themselves, including important people in their lives, friendships, interests, and aspects of their identity that contribute to their wellbeing.

This About Me activity enables program staff to develop early relationships with students, gain insight into individual needs, and monitor students’ adjustment to high school. It also supports ongoing engagement by providing a basis for future conversations and helping students feel comfortable accessing the Rise Up space and available supports.
