Community Support Expands Student Opportunities

The BHP Pilbara Education Partnership Pathways Program is expanding opportunities for Newman Senior High School students through industry partnerships, flexible learning pathways, and qualifications that support further education and future careers.

Newman Senior High School is committed to collaborating with organisations to broaden and enhance the range of pathway options available to students. Through partnering with local organisations students are offered an expanded selection of curriculum courses, including increased ATAR subjects, School Based Traineeships, and certificate programs.

Students agree:

“What I love doing about the certificate is all the opportunities you get down at the trade centre, you get to weld, you get to learn how to measure stuff precisely”. Year 12 student

“I do Math Applications and English in class, and I do Math Methods and ATAR Chemistry online. I’d love to go to university in UWA for ATAR Engineering, majoring in civil engineering”. Year 12 student

“That cert has actually allowed me to go into university and so now I study a Bachelor of Nursing. It let me go into the career choice that I want, and it is one that I have been thinking about for a long time and it’s just really my dream”. Former Year 12 student, 2025

Collaboration is the key to supporting Newman Senior High School students to explore career options, pursue further education, and smoothly enter the workforce and community.
