The Rise Up program at Hedland Senior High School is designed to foster a strong sense of belonging and identity among students while offering meaningful opportunities for leadership development.

Recently, seven outstanding candidates applied for the prestigious positions of 2025 School Captain and School Council. Each candidate submitted a written application supported by endorsements from their teachers and parents. Candidates were also encouraged to write about themselves, highlighting their exceptional leadership qualities, dedication, and genuine desire to positively impact the school community.

As part of the rigorous selection process, candidates participated in an interview with the Principal, the Rise Up Coordinator, and the current School Captain. This process provided an opportunity for candidates to showcase their commitment, resilience, determination, willingness to grow, and courage as they aspire to elevate their leadership and begin their Year 12 journey.

Reflecting on the experience, the interview panel shared:
“The interview process was both a privilege and an honour to be part of. Our young leaders demonstrated incredible commitment and a heartfelt eagerness to leave a positive legacy among their peers and teachers. Despite their nerves, students displayed courage, preparation, and determination, embodying a vision and dedication that is truly inspiring.”

Congratulations to the newly appointed School Captain and School Council for 2025.
