Supporting Young People to Lead

The Rise Up program at Hedland Senior High School encourages student leadership and community connection. Recently, Year 8 students led a Bake Sale, collaborating with Executive Student Leaders to plan and execute the event.

An aspect of the Rise Up program is to support students to take on leadership opportunities, aspire to the next level, and strengthen community connection.

The Rise Up program at Hedland Senior High School recently facilitated a Year 8 student led Bake Sale with the proceeds going back into the community. Year 8 student leaders collaborated with their Executive Student Leaders to plan and prepare for the Bake Sale, with students being empowered to lead the community focused initiative.

The hard work paid off by raising $320 for the Hedland Netball Association.

From the students:

“It felt empowering, and I felt proud after we accomplished the bake sale. There were definitely stressful moments on the way, however, in the end it was definitely worth it.”
“It felt like I was giving back to the community, and it was a good feeling to have, as I with the rest of the student leadership created something from an idea everyone liked.”
