Student Voice Has Risen Up

The Rise Up program at Newman Senior High School is boosting student voice and engagement. Surveys show students feel proud, included, and supported, with participation and recognition continuing to grow in 2025.

The Rise Up program at Newman Senior High School champions individual student achievement by promoting participation in a wide range of activities, while strengthening positive reinforcement and building meaningful community connections. At the heart of the program is a commitment to amplifying student voice.

Recently, the program conducted a student survey – and the results are in!

Half of students surveyed agree that they are proud to be part of their school community and feel included, as well as feeling supported by the staff and mentors involved in the Rise Up program, and that the activities that Rise Up offer help them, build positive relationships with others.

In 2025, Rise Up has continued to gain momentum, with a steady increase in student engagement and participation. This growth highlights the program’s positive influence across the school community. Students are earning more individual points than ever before, with many progressing beyond the program’s ‘Tiers of Opportunity’, resulting in more frequent and meaningful recognition.
