The Rise Up program is delivered at both Hedland Senior High School and Newman Senior High School aiming to support students to take on leadership opportunities, aspire to the next level, and strengthen community connection.

The Hedland Senior High School Rise Up program proudly delivered its annual Year 6 Student Leadership Alliance Day, with forty-seven emerging student leaders from Port and South Hedland Primary Schools taking part. They were supported by twenty-one Rise Up student leaders from Years 7 to 10, who co-led the event and provided strong peer modelling throughout the day.
Students engaged in both pre- and post-event reflections, identifying key strengths, insights, and areas for growth. A highlight of the program was the collaborative SWOT analysis for the 2026 Colour Fun Run, completed in mixed-school groups alongside Hedland Senior High School student leaders.

Feedback from students demonstrated increased confidence, strengthened teamwork, and clear signs of developing leadership capability across the cohort:
“I enjoyed talking with students from other schools and sharing ideas.”
“I learnt how to listen, contribute and be part of a team.”
“I realised I can confidently speak to a large group of people.”
“During the group work, I learnt to listen to other people’s opinions.”
