Successful Pathway for Year 11 Student

Year 11 student Curtis Winmar has achieved great success through the Hedland Senior High School Success Program, completing qualifications and work experience that earned him a full scholarship to SEDA College and a spot in the West Coast Eagles Youth Development Squad.

The Success Program at Hedland Senior High School, supported by the BHP Pilbara Education Partnership, continues to deliver real outcomes for students.

Through targeted support of the program, Year 11 student Curtis Winmar, has had significant improvements in attendance and engagement, recently completing SmartMove, Employment Advantage, and a Certificate I in Sport and Recreation, alongside work experience at the Town of Port Hedland gym and pool. These achievements have led to a full scholarship for Year 12 at Sports Education and Development Australia (SEDA) College and participation in the West Coast Eagles Youth Development Squad.

The Success Program’s impact has been acknowledged by West Coast Eagles Youth Engagement Coordinator, who expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts that made these opportunities possible.

This success story demonstrates how strong partnerships and targeted support open real pathways for students beyond school.
