Ngala’s Growing Strong Brains – 2023

Ngala's Growing Strong Brains© Toolkit has been designed as a portable yarning tool about pregnancy, early brain development, and growing up strong, healthy kids.

It supports better outcomes for the families. Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) data shows that Aboriginal children in Western Australia are twice as likely to be developmentally vulnerable than non-Indigenous children. Research by Telethon Kids Institute (TKI) indicates nine out of ten reported cases of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) in WA in the last 30 years were Aboriginal children.

The Growing Strong Brains toolkit recognises the strength, resilience and capacity of Aboriginal families. The workshop shares the science behind the toolkit. Participants gain the skills and knowledge to use the toolkit and identify how, where and when it works best for their organisation, community and clients.
