The Rise Up program at Newman Senior High School supports individual student achievement by encouraging participation in a broad range of activities, fostering positive reinforcement, and strengthening connections within the school community.

Recently Student Councillors participated in a GRIT Leadership Workshop, delivered by YouthCARE. Through a range of individual and collaborative activities, students strengthened their leadership skills and explored the principles of Growth, Resilience, Integrity and Traction (GRIT); a key focus was understanding the Comfort, Growth and Stress Zones, helping students develop strategies to manage challenges and support others.
Student Council members were also encouraged to recognise and enhance their own unique strengths.

The workshop fostered teamwork, collaboration, and peer support, with students demonstrating a high level of engagement and mutual encouragement throughout the activities. This was a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen their leadership capacity, build meaningful connections and further develop the skills required to make a positive contribution to the school community.
