Exploring your pathway to the future!

Recently, 40 enthusiastic Year 9 students attended a five-day careers camp in Karratha. They engaged with industry professionals at a careers expo and participated in hands-on career tasters in fields like automotive, construction, logistics, and beauty.

The focus of the Pathways program is to prepare young people for life beyond school by building skills and capabilities for employment, further training, or further study.

Recently forty enthusiastic Year 9 students from Newman Senior High School embarked on a transformative five-day careers camp in Karratha. On the first day of the camp students attended a careers expo, where they engaged with professionals from various industries. This enabled them to ask questions and gain valuable advice directly from industry experts, offering a clearer picture of potential career paths.

The students also participated in a diverse range of career tasters over two days, gaining practical skills and insights into fields such as automotive, construction, logistics, and beauty. Students were able to choose opportunities based on their interests and had hands on experiences, including; working on car engines, building toolboxes, working from heights, and performing beauty treatments.

The careers camp was an invaluable opportunity for students to explore different career options and participate in activities across various industry sectors. This interactive experience will equip students with knowledge and skills that will aid them in their future career decisions.
