Supported by the BHP Pilbara Education Partnership Pathways strategy, ATAR students will have access to a range of additional supports in 2024.
Previously, students have had access to an ATAR Revision Camp in Perth during the October school holidays. This year, students will once again be invited to attend in October but will also have the opportunity to attend in the April school holidays. 15 Year 11 and 12 ATAR students have opted to attend the April revision camp with the support of three Hedland Senior High School staff members. Students will have access to revision tutorials for their ATAR courses, which will allow them to revise their Term 1 learnings and consolidate their understanding in preparation for semester one exams.
ATAR students are also being invited to attend the Elevate Study Skills Program in March. Elevate are attending Hedland Senior High School to conduct two face-to-face sessions focusing on study skills strategies and time management. This will allow the ATAR students to plan and prepare for their ATAR workload throughout the year, and ensure they are putting their best foot forward when it comes to their assessments and exams.
In addition to the revision camps and study skills sessions, all ATAR students have had their ATAR resources, including text books, graphics calculators and study guides, provided as part of their enrolment in ATAR courses. This has ensured all ATAR students have access to the necessary resources to ensure their success while participating in ATAR courses in Year 11 and 12.
The school is also excited to announce that plans are underway to create a designated location for ATAR students to access during the school day. Known as the ‘ATAR hub’, this space will allow students to access further resources and a quiet place to study when required. Hedland Senior High School in conjunction with BHP are excited to plan and provide this amazing space to the ATAR students as an added layer of support as they complete their studies.
