Leadership Alliance

Increasing leadership opportunities for students was a focus for Hedland Senior High School’s Rise Up program, when hosting a Student Leadership Alliance Day.

Year 6 Student Leaders from local primary schools, were provided leadership development through the delivery of a social skills and resilience program called GRIT (Growth – Resilience – Integrity – Traction). In pairs, the high school Student Leaders led GRIT activities with groups of Year 6 Student Leaders. Facilitated discussions were a key feature of the session, encouraging the younger leaders to reflect and positively strengthen their mindset.

Another agenda item was dedicated to local community youth services, who presented leadership opportunities available within local government and outlined what is on offer to the youth in the Town of Port Hedland. This day provided the Year 6 students opportunity to start developing their sense of belonging and identity within the high school.
