Bobbi Lockyer: Rise Up role-model

Local Aboriginal artist, Bobbi Lockyer, who is making headway with her career nationally and internationally, mentored Rise Up students to paint a wall mural.

This project provided an opportunity to strengthen students’ sense of belonging in the Rise Up area within the school and engaged them in an activity outside of the classroom. Over a series of workshops, Bobbi challenged the students with different painting techniques that led to the creation of a final design for the wall mural. Artistic strengths in the students were identified, and channelled, leading to a successful collaborative beautification project.
